Picking the Perfect Haircut

Haircuts, some people love them and others not so much. Changing up your hairstyle and haircut can be amazing and exciting but make sure you walk out of the shop with a style that you really want.

I cut hair all the time and I am surprised at times how many people sit in the chair without a clear idea as to what they want. Rule number one when it comes to haircuts remember it's your hair you are in control. Whether you want a dramatic cut or just a trim it is your stylists job to be there for you so let them know what you really want. Pictures are extremely helpful and help open up a line of communication between you and your hairdresser. Don't be afraid to take some screen shots of haircuts you like on pinterest or online so that you can discuss your options with your stylist.

When I was younger I used to be very apprehensive about getting haircuts. My hair does not appear to grow that fast and I really did not want anyone to take too much off, which unfortunately was a problem that I had encountered a few times in the past. Today if I were to get a haircut by a new stylist I would ask a lot of questions before hand... and that's OK that is a good thing!

Trust yourself, speak up! Your stylist is the expert so ask as many questions as you need to until you feel comfortable that you both are on the same page. I can not stress how important it is to know the type of maintenance, upkeep and products that you will need to achieve your desired end look. Let's say that you have longer curly hair and really want a short bob haircut that will look really smooth, straight and edgy. It is completely possible to achieve that look with curly hair but it may require straightening everyday or several times a week. On the other hand if you are comfortable with curls perfect! Just bare in mind that it will give your bob a lot of volume and texture. I would also recommend when cutting curly hair to leave it a little bit longer then the actual length you want to take off because once your hair is dry after the haircut it will lift the hair making it appear shorter. That is just one example but definitely something to think about when considering a haircut like that. It might be a little more maintenance than you would like to put in weekly or maybe not but it's important to know your options.

I hope that this post will help you guys in the future when you are planning to make a trip to the beauty salon. Thank you so much for reading and if you have any questions, comments or have a topic that you would like me to cover please let me know!

Stay gorgeous!
